The concept of balance has many sides to it. In this piece I wanted to portray the shapes being balanced, as well as the close view versus the distant view.
The super moon coming up over the mountains can be so magical. I just had to capture the feeling of those moments.
The idea of exploring an image from multiple viewpoints is intriguing to me. Each piece is hand cut and then the drawing is added to the structure. I use Colored Pencil and water soluble pastel crayon on the wood surface to create the image.
Torrey Pines reveals different levels topographically as well as activities to participate in such as hiking, surfing or playing on the beach. Depending on how much of the marine layer is in, it also seems like different weather within the same day.
